  17. INTRODUCTION
  18. ============
  19. 'Class Information Manager' is a program written for teachers by a teacher.
  20. It's aim is to store and organise all the information normally used by those
  21. who teach more than one class or subject in an easy-to-use way so that they
  22. do not have to keep up-to-date many files of information as well as mark
  23. books, registers etc.  The program then uses this information to produce
  24. clear summaries for planning lessons, reporting to parents and keeping school
  25. records up to date.  By doing this it puts the information teachers need at
  26. their fingertips to enable them to become more effective at the job they want
  27. to do - teaching effectively and knowing their pupils.

  30. 1. COPYRIGHT AND CONDITIONS

  32. 'Class Information Manager' is 'charityware' and as such may be copied and
  33. distributed without cost, as long as it is offered under the same
  34. conditions as are stated here and as long as all the files, including this
  35. Readme.txt file are also distributed.  It is, however, copyright and may not
  36. be altered in any way or incorporated into other programs without permission
  37. from the author.

  60. 2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  62. 'Class Information Manager' has been written for PC computers running
  63. Windows 95 operating system (or Windows NT version 4).  It should work on
  64. later versions of Windows, such as Windows 98.

  70.         3MB Hard Disk space

  78. 3. INSTALLATION / UNINSTALLING
  79.    ===========================
  80. To install 'Class Information Manager', run the 'Setup.exe' file which comes
  81. with the program.  If your copy of the program came on disk, this will be on
  82. Disk 1 of the 2 disks and can be run by clicking Start then Run and typing
  83. 'a:Setup' and clicking OK.  You can then start the program by clicking on the
  84. Class Information Manager icon in the 'Programs' folder on the Start menu.

  86. (For the technically minded:
  87. The program installs in a directory ('folder') 'Class Information Manager'
  88. within the directory 'Program Files' on your computer's hard disk.)

  90. To uninstall the program, click on 'Start' then 'Settings' then 'Control
  91. Panel'.  Now double click on the 'Add/Remove Programs' icon.  Select 'Class
  92. Information Manager', click 'Add/Remove' and follow instructions.

  95. 4. CHANGES TO CLASS INFORMATION MANAGER VERSION 3.0
  96.    ================================================
  97. Version 3 includes the following improvements and changes:
  98.  
  99. * Include effort grades (A-F) infront of marks, which are then averaged...
  100.  
  101. * Import names directly from a spreadsheet by copying them to the clipboard
  102.  
  103. * Print a listáof alláhomeworks owed by a class, including date, references
  104.  
  105. * Print off reports for a whole class with one click, or a list of records
  106.  
  107. * Specify if you want individual homeworks and absences included in reports
  108.  
  109. * Many new options for exporting to spreadsheet including marks as %
  110.  
  111. * New shortcut keys added to speed up work (including F2-F5)
  112.  
  113. * Records don't have to be entered chronologically - the order can be changed
  114.  
  115. NB! Because effort grades are now included, version 3 saves information in a
  116. new format.  If you have existing data saved for a previous version, it will
  117. convert the file, but once converted previous versions of the program cannot
  118. access the data.
