INTRODUCTION
============
'Class Information Manager' is a program written for teachers by a teacher.
It's aim is to store and organise all the information normally used by those
who teach more than one class or subject in an easy-to-use way so that they
do not have to keep up-to-date many files of information as well as mark
books, registers etc. The program then uses this information to produce
clear summaries for planning lessons, reporting to parents and keeping school
records up to date. By doing this it puts the information teachers need at
their fingertips to enable them to become more effective at the job they want
to do - teaching effectively and knowing their pupils.

2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
===================
'Class Information Manager' has been written for PC computers running
Windows 95 operating system (or Windows NT version 4). It should work on
later versions of Windows, such as Windows 98.
Hardware
--------
Minimum: 486 DX Processor
8MB RAM
3MB Hard Disk space
Recommended: Pentium Processor
16MB RAM
5MB Hard Disk space
Colour inkjet or laser printer
3. INSTALLATION / UNINSTALLING
===========================
To install 'Class Information Manager', run the 'Setup.exe' file which comes
with the program. If your copy of the program came on disk, this will be on
Disk 1 of the 2 disks and can be run by clicking Start then Run and typing
'a:Setup' and clicking OK. You can then start the program by clicking on the
Class Information Manager icon in the 'Programs' folder on the Start menu.
(For the technically minded:
The program installs in a directory ('folder') 'Class Information Manager'
within the directory 'Program Files' on your computer's hard disk.)
To uninstall the program, click on 'Start' then 'Settings' then 'Control
Panel'. Now double click on the 'Add/Remove Programs' icon. Select 'Class
Information Manager', click 'Add/Remove' and follow instructions.
4. CHANGES TO CLASS INFORMATION MANAGER VERSION 3.0
================================================
Version 3 includes the following improvements and changes:
* Include effort grades (A-F) infront of marks, which are then averaged...
* Import names directly from a spreadsheet by copying them to the clipboard
* Print a listáof alláhomeworks owed by a class, including date, references
* Print off reports for a whole class with one click, or a list of records
* Specify if you want individual homeworks and absences included in reports
* Many new options for exporting to spreadsheet including marks as %
* New shortcut keys added to speed up work (including F2-F5)
* Records don't have to be entered chronologically - the order can be changed
NB! Because effort grades are now included, version 3 saves information in a
new format. If you have existing data saved for a previous version, it will
convert the file, but once converted previous versions of the program cannot
access the data.
